Bill Leslie's workshop on Friday focused on uncerteainty and its outcome, he prompted us with some materials gave us a brief instruction and left us to "play" as he says. then he told us to make a outcome put of the mess we have made. I think he was trying create a message saying that an outcome doesn't have to be planned or followed through like a plan. I also think he tried to take away the stereotype of a camera, phone , etc as he told us to find a different way of taking pictures using the device in a non conventional way. he introduced the idea by making us do the poses associated with a camera or the other devices, for example the shoulder lifting pose of a person taking a picture on a camera.
today I'm going to create a response to his workshop in my own way since I didn't fully understand what we were doing on the day. I didn't take any pictures at the workshop as I thought it was the wrong way to express his way of thinking and I didn't get the idea.
These are some pictures i took in the summer on holiday that i thought related to rituals. i tried to recreate Michael wolfs photographs of the apartments but it was difficult to make the building take up the whole picture and be zoomed out at the same time. there was always an area of the photograph where theres sky ect... the fireworks i think relate to rituals as they're used ritualistically in celebrations but they are rarely photographed.
Project idea
my idea is to photograph ordinary things that i do everyday ritualistically without realising. bringing attention to the fact that we do certain things everyday like a ritual but we do not make anything of it until its acknowledged {photographed}
I've chosen to photograph a certain part of my way to school everyday as I've noticed that although its the same location it can look different everyday.
after i have photographed for 100 school days i will print out each of the pictures and my final outcome will be a display of them in order {day by day} and i will also put the date of each picture below.
